# Steel Project Handoff Package

Build a printable steel project handoff with selected takeoffs, cutting plans, drawing revisions, RFIs, project notes, and a review checklist.

Saved only in this browser. Use a complete project package to back up the project and its attached tool records. No files or private project fields are uploaded.

## Choose the records to include

Include the snapshots relevant to this handoff. Review their saved dates and unresolved questions before issuing the package.

## Assemble a handoff someone else can understand

The handoff builder turns selected saved project records into a readable package. It works from saved records, so first save any takeoff, cutting, costing, or review changes you want represented. An unsaved tool tab is not automatically included.

### Prepare and inspect the package

- Choose the project and check its issue-set reference, notes, checklist progress, and unresolved follow-up items.

- Select the records relevant to this handoff. Their titles and saved dates help you avoid including an obsolete material snapshot alongside its replacement.

- Build the preview and read it before printing. The preview includes project notes, the review checklist, follow-up items, and the selected tool records.

- Use Print or save PDF to retain that version through the browser's print dialog. Review the print preview for page breaks and long tables.

### Example: a limited drawing-review handoff

For a review discussion, select the current drawing register, the relevant drawing review, and the RFI log. Leave an unrelated pricing estimate unchecked. The printed packet will show those selected records alongside the project notes and follow-up checklist. Drawing-review entries contain source names and mark notes; the actual PDF sheets and exported comparison images must be provided separately through your usual document process.

### Printed selection and complete backup are different outputs

Export complete project JSON includes every saved record for the project, even records not selected for printing. It is an editable backup rather than a filtered version of the handoff. Review what a recipient needs before sharing that full file. Original PDFs, exported PNG files, the global stock inventory, and the personal learning library are not embedded in it.

If a selected record cannot be validated, the builder stops instead of silently omitting it. Fix that record or deliberately deselect it, then rebuild. Changing the record selection invalidates the earlier preview; rebuild before printing. The package records information and review progress rather than granting release authority.

Return to the [project dashboard](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/project-dashboard/) to inspect or save the source records. Record the handoff's purpose and issue references clearly enough that its saved dates can be interpreted later.

A few practical answers

## Frequently asked questions

Does creating a handoff authorize fabrication?

No. The handoff organizes selected saved information. The responsible person must separately authorize the release scope and identify holds, exclusions, and governing files.

Does the JSON export contain only the selected print sections?

No. The complete project JSON includes all project records. Review its contents before sharing; selecting sections changes the printed handoff, not the scope of the backup.

Are drawings attached to the generated package?

No. The package can refer to drawing records, but the actual PDFs and production files must be transmitted and controlled separately.
