# Useful automation must remain accountable.

A public statement of how Quantum Steel Design approaches website security, local processing, project information, AI-assisted work, human review, and honest limitations.

Current public position

Local processing where stated. PDF Rescue, Steel Shape Studio, and the browser project tools perform their documented file or project work on the user's device.

Human responsibility remains. Automated output is supporting information, not engineering approval or fabrication authorization.

No implied certification. This page describes published practices and principles; it is not an independent audit, certification, or guarantee.

What is operating today

## Clear claims with clear boundaries.

Trust starts by separating a live capability from an operating principle or future direction. The statements below apply only to the products and workflows specifically named.

For deeper technical detail, review [website security](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/security/), [privacy](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/privacy/), [terms and engineering limitations](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/terms/), and the [integration-readiness matrix](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/integrations/).

01 / Website

### HTTPS delivery and browser safeguards

The public site is delivered through Cloudflare Pages over HTTPS and uses published browser security headers. No website can promise absolute security.

02 / PDF Rescue

### Local vector-PDF recovery

The browser converter parses eligible PDFs and creates DXF output on the device. The desktop edition also converts locally and can operate offline. PDF Rescue does not need the drawing file to be uploaded for conversion.

03 / Shape Studio

### Local reference and export work

Steel Shape Studio stores its bundled shape data, preferences, and generated output on the Windows computer running the application. Its CLI supports repeatable local workflows.

Responsible automation principles

## How AI-assisted steel work should be controlled.

These are operating principles for development and delivery. They do not claim that every possible control or enterprise feature is already implemented.

- 01Qualified human approvalA qualified person remains responsible for reviewing project-specific assumptions, exceptions, coordinated information, and consequential output before use or release.

- 02Source and revision visibilityAutomation should preserve the source, revision, input, transformation, and exception context needed for a reviewer to understand what changed and why.

- 03Bounded claimsA tool should say what it can do, what it cannot do, and where project-specific engineering, detailing, fabrication, erection, or safety authority belongs.

- 04Minimum necessary dataProject information should be requested only when it is needed for an agreed scope. Confidentiality, access, retention, and permitted use should be established before sensitive files are shared.

- 05No silent training promiseCustomer or prospective-customer project information should not be used to train a shared system without explicit written permission defining that use.

- 06Exceptions over false certaintyWhen confidence, source quality, or applicability is uncertain, the safer output is a visible exception for human review—not an invented answer.

Known limitations

## Reference and automation do not transfer authority.

The free shape reference and export tools provide nominal geometry and reference information. They do not determine project suitability, design a connection, authorize material, or replace current governing documents and competent professional verification.

PDF Rescue recovers eligible vector paths and semantic text. It cannot reconstruct source CAD intelligence that is absent from a PDF, and it is not intended to make scanned or flattened drawings fabrication-ready.

[jumpSteel Pro](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/jumpsteel-pro/) supports repeatable detailing, checking, and review work. It does not replace detailing judgment, code awareness, coordination, engineering responsibility, or communication with the project team.

Report responsibly

### Security concern

Report suspected vulnerabilities through the contact page with the affected URL, observations, and safe reproduction steps. Do not access data that is not yours or disrupt the service.

Correct the record

### Technical, privacy, or AI concern

Send the affected page or output, the statement or behavior in question, the source you believe controls, and a way to follow up. Material corrections should be made openly rather than hidden.

Browser workbench

## Know the difference between a local record and a shared project system

### Project records remain local

The browser dashboard connects saved takeoffs, cutting plans, estimates, drawing-review metadata, registers, and RFIs. Explicit saves and exports create records in this browser or files you download. These tools do not provide an account, shared team database, automatic cross-device synchronization, or a contractual approval workflow.

### PDF content is handled in the tab

Drawing search builds a temporary text index from selected PDFs. Drawing comparison renders selected pages and keeps review annotations; exported or project-saved review metadata can include filenames, fingerprints, page references, and notes. Original PDF bytes and passwords are not included in those review packages.

### Offline files and project backups are separate

The offline workbench downloads only its listed public tools and reference assets after an explicit choice. It verifies the download before replacing an older pack. Removing that pack preserves separately saved project data; clearing all site storage can remove both. Export backups and check them before relying on another device.

Local processing does not make every action on the website offline. Page delivery, the contact form, embedded YouTube videos, PDF Rescue's disclosed counters, and optional consent-based Analytics have their own behavior. The [Privacy disclosure](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/privacy/) describes those boundaries.

Published explanations

## Check the source behind a claim

Quantum Steel Design's [editorial approach](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/about/#editorial-approach) describes AI-assisted drafting, software-generated reference pages, source links, examples, and correction requests. David Carne's [owner profile](https://www.quantumsteeldesign.com/about/#david-carne) states the background the company has authorized for publication. Neither a company byline nor a successful website test establishes that a particular project condition has been independently reviewed.

For a tool result, retain the original input, units, settings, software version, and warnings. For an article, check the cited source and its applicability to the question. For a proposed project decision, identify the person assigned responsibility before treating reference material as an instruction.
