Site information

Privacy

Plain-language details about the information this website uses and the drawing data it does not collect.

The short version

PDF Rescue conversions run on your device. Quantum Steel Design does not receive your PDF or DXF files. Contact details are used to answer you, and small anonymous or pseudonymous event records support the public PDF Rescue counters. Google Analytics page counts and Microsoft Clarity interaction recordings have separate optional choices. Neither loads before you accept that service, and you can change either choice later.

Effective date: September 29, 2026

This notice applies to quantumsteeldesign.com and the browser edition of Quantum Steel PDF Rescue. The downloadable desktop application processes files locally and does not require an account.

Information you provide

If you submit the contact form, Quantum Steel Design receives the name, email address, company, project type, software/version, timing, scope summary, and message you choose to enter. That information is used to respond to your request, discuss possible work, maintain business records, and prevent abuse. Contact messages may be delivered through Quantum Steel Design's email provider or a configured form-delivery service.

To understand which outreach is useful, the form may also include a limited first-touch attribution record: explicitly supplied UTM labels, a short source label, the landing-page path, and the referring site's hostname. The site does not include the referrer's full URL, query string, or page content. Attribution is held in session storage for the current browser session and is sent only if you submit the form; it is not an advertising cookie or cross-site identifier.

Optional Google Analytics

With your acceptance, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits to its public pages on quantumsteeldesign.com and www.quantumsteeldesign.com. Analytics does not load or send requests before you accept, and it remains off if you reject it. It is disabled on local development and preview hostnames.

Analytics receives the public page's canonical address and path without query parameters or fragments. We omit referral details and campaign parameters. We do not send your name, email address, contact-form contents, selected file names, uploaded-file information, or drawing contents to Analytics. We do not forward form, download, or other page-interaction events. Google's standard Analytics processing can also use cookie identifiers, session information, browser and device information, and routine network data, including the IP address used to connect to Google. This information is not anonymous.

Accepting Analytics permits its first-party cookies, named qsd_ga and qsd_ga_9EDM4JCCSB, for up to 180 days from creation. Their expiration is not extended on each visit. We disable Google advertising signals and advertising personalization, and do not grant advertising consent through these controls. Google's handling of Analytics information is described in Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Use Analytics settings in the footer to accept or reject Analytics later. Your choice is remembered for 180 days in this browser's local storage under qsd.analytics-consent.v1. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice may need to be made again on another page. Rejecting after acceptance stops further Analytics collection and removes these Analytics cookies without reloading the page or clearing your form entries. It does not delete information Google already received. Clearing this site's local storage removes the remembered choice.

This Analytics choice is separate from the contact form, PDF Rescue counters, hosting request data, and YouTube embeds described elsewhere in this notice. Those services continue to operate according to their own described purposes.

Optional Microsoft Clarity

Clarity is a separate opt-in feature for understanding how visitors use selected company pages through session recordings and heatmaps. Accepting Google Analytics does not accept Clarity, including if you accepted Google Analytics before Clarity was added. The Microsoft script does not load or send recording requests until you choose Accept Clarity recordings in Analytics settings. Local development, previews, and embedded copies of this website are excluded.

Recording is limited to Services, Process, Portfolio, Proof, Software, Integrations, Trust, Design Partners, and Start Here. The homepage, owner profile, contact form, resource search, learning library, drawing and project tools, uploads, and all other pages are excluded. A visit with any URL query or fragment is excluded. The referring address must be empty or a clean address for this site's homepage or another eligible page. Recording stops if an eligible page changes its URL within the document, introduces data-entry controls, or you follow an external, email, or parameterized link.

Before Clarity starts, we apply page-wide masking of text and images. Clarity can still receive the public page address and title, eligible referring address, page layout, clicks, scrolling, time on page, cookie identifiers, browser and device information, and network information including the IP address used to connect to Microsoft. This is not anonymous data. We do not send customer identifiers or custom visitor profiles. Project records, form contents, file names, uploaded drawing contents, and search terms are excluded by keeping their pages outside the recording coverage.

We grant Clarity analytics storage consent only; advertising storage remains denied. Clarity uses first-party cookies such as _clck and _clsk to recognize browsers and connect visits. Microsoft describes its cookie behavior in the Clarity cookie documentation, and its data handling in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Your separate Clarity choice is remembered for 180 days under qsd.clarity-consent.v1 in this browser's local storage. Use Analytics settings to reject recordings later. Withdrawal blocks further Clarity requests and removes this site's Clarity cookies and tab marker; it does not delete information Microsoft already received or cookies on Microsoft's own domains. If you accept again after stopping a recording, it can resume on your next eligible page, not in the stopped document. Clearing local storage removes the remembered choice. Rejecting Clarity preserves your Google Analytics choice, project data, and form entries.

Site search and tools saved in your browser

Site search downloads an index of public website content and searches it in your browser. Search text stays in the URL fragment after the hash character; the search tool does not submit it to a server or Analytics. A shared search link or your browser history can retain that text.

The project checklist stores only the identifiers of selected review items in this browser's local storage under qsd.project-checklists.v1. It does not upload checklist selections or project files. Printing and CSV export are local browser actions. Use Reset progress or clear this site's local storage to remove saved checklist selections.

The material takeoff tool saves entered marks, shapes, lengths, units, and quantities locally. Shape comparison saves selected sections, units, and favorites; its optional share link contains shape identifiers and units in the URL fragment. The stock cutting planner saves stock lengths, cut labels, quantities, units, and kerf only when you select Save in this browser. These tools use qsd.material-takeoff.v1, qsd.shape-comparison.v1, qsd.shape-favorites.v1, and qsd.cutting-planner.v1.

Project Workspaces saves project names, references, notes, checklist selections, and follow-up items under qsd.project-workspaces.v1. My Learning Library saves the public page paths and titles you bookmark or mark complete, their status, and update times under qsd.learning-library.v1. Learning progress is selected by you; the tool does not monitor video viewing. Your library's title search stays in the page and is not added to its URL.

These saved tools use this browser's local storage without an account or cloud sync. Their entered data, imported backups, and downloaded exports are not submitted to our servers or Analytics. Use each tool's remove, clear, or delete controls, or clear this site's local storage to remove its saved data. Export a backup first if you need to retain your work. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see the saved data. Downloaded backups and printed records remain wherever you keep them; deleting browser data does not delete those copies.

The project dashboard connects explicitly saved tool snapshots, drawing registers, RFI questions and responses, assigned-person fields, and review annotations using local keys beginning qsd.project-data.v1.. Complete project packages contain project details and attached records; basic workspace backups contain notes, checklist progress, and follow-up items only. Importing a complete project package adds a new project copy. Removing a project in Project Workspaces also removes its attached local records.

Stock and offcut inventory, locations, compatibility groups, and recent changes are kept under qsd.stock-inventory.v1. Material cost inputs and estimates use qsd.material-cost.v1. A takeoff-to-cutting transfer temporarily uses session storage with the prefix qsd.cut-transfer.; the transfer link carries only a random token in its URL fragment. These records are not sent to servers or Analytics. Project handoff packages and prepared RFI correspondence are created locally; the site does not send them to anyone.

Drawing comparison files stay local

Drawing Comparison and Drawing Search read selected PDFs in browser memory using the site's local PDF renderer. PDF bytes, extracted search text, search queries, and passwords are not uploaded or put in local storage by these tools. Clear the drawings or close the page to end the session. Drawing Search works with embedded text and does not perform OCR.

If you explicitly export a drawing review or save it to a project, that review includes the PDF file names and document fingerprints, page references, viewing settings, mark coordinates, and annotation notes. It does not include the PDF bytes or passwords. Reselect and verify the source PDFs to restore a review. Exported comparison images can contain drawing content and marks; images and review files remain wherever you save them. Neither drawing tool sends the conversion or download counter events used by PDF Rescue.

Optional offline downloads

The Offline Workbench registers a service worker only when you choose to download an offline pack. It saves selected public tool pages, scripts, styles, reference data, and optional PDF-rendering assets in this browser's Cache Storage. Private project inputs, selected PDFs, Analytics helpers, API responses, contact submissions, and external services are excluded from those packs. Online pages and assets are requested normally; a complete saved pack can supply supported pages when the network is unavailable.

The offline page shows the installed pack and update status. Remove offline data deletes this workbench's downloaded caches and unregisters its service worker while preserving local project records. Browser storage controls can also remove downloads; browsers may reclaim stored data. Removing an offline pack does not delete exported files or project data in local storage.

PDF Rescue files stay local

The browser converter reads the selected PDF and creates the DXF in your browser. The PDF, its file name, its drawing contents, and the resulting DXF are not uploaded to Quantum Steel Design's servers. The desktop application also performs conversion locally.

Likes, downloads, and conversion counts

PDF Rescue displays public aggregate counts. To keep those counts useful, the site creates random event identifiers and a random browser identifier stored in your browser. The server records event type, time, and one-way hashes used for duplicate and short-term abuse controls. For activity controls, a hash may be derived from request network information and browser user-agent data. The application database does not intentionally store raw PDF data, PDF file names, DXF contents, or raw IP addresses.

You can clear the random browser identifier by clearing this site's local storage. Doing so does not remove legitimate aggregate download or conversion events already counted.

Hosting and routine request data

This website is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare. Like most hosting and security providers, Cloudflare processes routine request data such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, timestamps, and security signals to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare's handling of that information is governed by its own policies.

Individual video watch pages under /videos/ contain embedded YouTube players. Opening a watch page can connect to YouTube before you press Play; YouTube may receive routine request data and apply its own privacy and cookie practices. The video directory, reference pages, and articles use local thumbnails and links to these watch pages. You can also use the clearly labeled link to watch each video directly on YouTube.

Quantum Steel Design's site code does not use advertising cookies or sell personal information. External websites and embedded services have their own privacy practices.

Retention, access, and questions

Contact and business correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed for communication, project records, legal obligations, and legitimate business purposes. Aggregate counter records may be retained to preserve accurate totals and defend against manipulation.

To ask about information you submitted, request a correction or deletion where applicable, or raise a privacy concern, use the contact page. Reasonable identity verification may be required before acting on a request.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated as the site or its services change. The effective date above will be revised when a material update is published.
