Steel Project Workspaces

Keep separate steel project checklists, notes, and unresolved items in your browser. Save a local backup, switch projects, or print your review record.

Project data stays in this browser. Export a backup before clearing browser data or moving devices. A checked item records your review progress; it does not authorize fabrication or establish approval.

Choose a project

Basic backups contain notes, checklist progress, and follow-up items. Use the project dashboard to connect tool records and export complete project packages. Import here adds basic workspace copies; up to 50 projects can be kept.

Start a separate review record

Create a project to track its intake, coordination and handoff checklist, project notes, and questions that still need an answer.

Keep the project information connected

Use the material takeoff builder for quantities, drawing comparison for visual review, and the release audit guide for workflow context. The responsible project team controls actual requirements and release decisions.

Create a useful review record before checking boxes

A workspace separates one project's review notes and unresolved questions from another's. Start with enough issue-set information that someone returning to the record can understand what was being reviewed.

Set up the record

  1. Create a project with a recognizable name. Add an issue-set reference, such as the drawing package date, revision, or defined scope.
  2. Use project notes for the review's boundaries and source references. Record what is still missing instead of treating an unchecked item as a completed decision.
  3. Work through the intake, coordination, and handoff checklist. Add a separate unresolved item when a question needs a documented answer.

Example: a question with a follow-up point

For a fictional “Workshop addition — review set B,” a useful unresolved item might read: “Confirm whether sheet S201 revision B includes the detail referenced at grid C/4; record the governing sheet and revision.” That is more actionable than “check drawings” because it identifies both the location and the missing information.

When an answer arrives, record its reference in the notes or an RFI record and mark the follow-up resolved. You can reopen an item if later information changes the question. Checklist progress remains your record of review activity; it does not replace the project's release process.

Understand copies and backups

Copying the standalone checklist brings its current selections into this project after confirmation. The copies are independent afterward. Likewise, copying unresolved items into the RFI log creates separate requests; later RFI status changes do not automatically resolve the original workspace items.

The basic workspace backup contains project details, notes, checklist selections, and follow-up items. It does not include attached takeoff, cutting, drawing-review, or other tool records. Use the project dashboard's complete package for those records. Importing a basic backup creates workspace copies, so check which copy you are editing after a restore. Inventory and learning-library backups remain separate.
