Saved project records

Tool snapshots stay independent until you explicitly load or replace them. PDFs are not included in project packages; reselect the original documents when opening a drawing review.

Connect records while keeping their versions clear

The dashboard gathers records you have explicitly saved to a project. It provides a place to find a takeoff, cost estimate, cutting plan, drawing review, drawing register, or RFI log without treating every open tool as the latest project record.

    Connect your first records

    1. Create the project in Project Workspaces and record the source issue set.
    2. Open the takeoff, cutting, costing, or drawing-review tool, choose the project, and save a record with a title that distinguishes its purpose or issue.
    3. Return to this dashboard to check the saved title and date. Use Open saved record to return to the corresponding tool.

    Example: preserve two takeoff stages

Save an initial takeoff as “Framing quantities — issue A,” then save the revised list as “Framing quantities — issue B.” Those material snapshots remain independent. Opening the earlier one asks before replacing the material tool's current inputs, and editing the active tool does not silently rewrite the saved snapshot.

Drawing registers and RFI logs save edits to their selected record. A linked drawing review can also update its saved record. Check the selected project and record before editing; the dashboard's date helps distinguish a named snapshot from a record that has continued to change.

Back up the project, not just the visible tool

A complete package contains this project's details, checklist, follow-up items, and all attached tool records. Importing a package creates a new project copy and preserves existing projects. Original PDFs and exported markup images are not embedded; reopening a drawing review requires selecting and verifying its source files.

The global stock inventory and personal learning library are separate browser records and need their own exports. Download a complete package before removing saved records or changing devices. A dashboard link identifies a record in this browser; sending the link alone does not transfer the project to another person.

When the needed records are saved, use the handoff builder to choose a readable selection for printing. Keep its printed output separate from the full backup if the recipient does not need every saved project record.

    A few practical answers

    Frequently asked questions

Does changing a tool update a saved snapshot?

No. A snapshot records the state captured at that time. Save a new snapshot when you want the project to reflect a later takeoff, plan, or estimate.

Can I move a project to another browser?

Export a complete project JSON backup, then review the import in the destination browser. Keep external drawings and other source files with your own controlled records.

Can I explore a project before creating my own?

The practice project provides a fictional JSON backup with revision records and expected results. Import it through the existing confirmation dialog, without replacing a real project.
