Project Backup and Recovery Center
Inspect saved steel project and tool collections, export a private local archive, preview selected replacements, and recover from an interrupted restore.
See what is saved on this device
This page inspects recognized Quantum Steel Design project and learning collections in this browser. It does not upload them. A complete archive includes saved workspaces and their attached records, material takeoffs, estimates, cut plans, stock, purchasing, assembly BOMs, quotes, plate layouts, coordination snapshots, operational registers, guided checkpoints, shape selections, and learning progress.
Save changes in each tool first. Unsaved tabs, original PDFs, selected certificate files, OCR text held only in memory, downloaded files, offline caches, and session transfers are outside this archive. Download those separately. Browser profiles, devices, private windows, and the www and bare hostnames have separate storage.

| Collection | Size | Validation | Backup reminder |
|---|
A reminder records when this page requested a download, not proof that you retained a readable file. Open the exported archive in the preview below before relying on it. A complete export stops if a recognized collection is unreadable, so damaged data is never silently omitted.
Preview an archive before restoring
Each checkbox represents an entire saved collection. Restoration replaces selected collections; it does not merge individual rows. Collections you leave unchecked remain unchanged. Export your current archive first and close other editing tabs. Workspace changes must retain projects referenced by existing attached records, guided checkpoints, and operational records.
The backup has a 20 MB file limit and supports 100 collections. Source tools keep their own smaller limits. Only allowlisted keys and valid tool schemas can be restored. Coordination snapshots retain their own project metadata and remain independent copies.
An interrupted restore needs attention
The recovery journal stores original values before replacements start. Download it first, then recover the originals. If another tab has since changed a collection, automatic recovery stops to protect that newer work; retain the journal for manual reconciliation. Do not clear browser data while recovery is pending.
Practice a safe restore
- Export the complete saved archive and confirm the downloaded file exists.
- Download the fictional one-answer practice archive. It contains only symbol-trainer progress, with one deliberately incorrect answer.
- Preview that archive. Its single checkbox should say Drawing symbol practice.
- If you want to try replacement, select that collection and acknowledge the change. Open the symbol trainer to see one item ready to revisit.
- Preview your own original archive to restore your earlier practice progress if desired.
Project archives can contain names, notes, prices, supplier references, and file names you entered. They are plain JSON, not encrypted. Keep them in a location appropriate for your project. This feature deliberately excludes analytics consent, Clarity consent, feedback-vote records, anonymous client identifiers, cookies, and credentials.
Backup questions
Will this restore my original drawing PDFs?
No. Saved drawing-review records contain references and annotations, not the original PDFs. Keep your source files and select them again when the review tool requests them.
What happens if browser storage becomes full?
Before replacing anything, the page must save a recovery journal. If that first write fails, no selected collection changes. If a later write fails, it attempts to restore original values. A remaining journal is shown here if automatic rollback cannot finish. Keep an external backup because clearing site data also deletes the journal.
Can I restore one row instead of a whole ledger?
Not here. This tool restores whole selected collections. For a single project, use a project package in Project Workspaces; for individual rows, use the relevant source tool and its import/export controls.
Does the changed indicator verify archive authenticity?
No. It is a local reminder comparing saved text with the last requested export. It is not a digital signature, audit record, or evidence of who created a file.
